I read "The Value Of Selfishness", there's only one selfishness that works: focussing your attention on your own business and not the business of others (unless for one special reason). I used to be an agnostic and despite Ayn going against agnosticism (with great jealousy), I learned that invented morals (or anti-morals) work wonders if they impress your mother, e.g. four or five of my quirky moral rules have already impressed my mother, as follows: I only whinge of the large evils and not trivia, I take affirmative action, I'm serious, I act like an adult, I disregard shit people, I sometimes have no rules for myself, enjoyment's good and sources of hate are bad, I rebel, plus I have several values: the exquisite, money, delight/joy/pleasure, dignity, creativity/constructive effort, comfort, philosophy, religious mythology, extreme subjectivity, peace/calmness, liberty (civil rights, private property, free trade, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and free and fair elections, and also being treated like an equal and treating ones like equals), using my beliefs as a licence to do what I want, insisting that what I do has to be done by acting only on what's necessary (while only having thoughts of the necessary), fun fun fun (pleasure and delight), these values vary in interpretation, they're not objectively set as specifically these values, and the anti-morals, though definite, are themselves not objective, but they cause so much survival between most people surrounding me. In fact, these behaviour traits work (what I invented works) but mum, dad, and my two brothers will always 'see' me as some kind of a monster, let's face it, you can't be accepted by everybody (though I painstakingly tried to make my family and commune mates accept my moral behaviour like veryone lese, it will never work, only the majority finds it acceptable but not the acceptance people think is good, e.g they put up with this without protest). I designed the code this way, to be tolerated without protest by rejecting social approval, but replacing social approval with social dignity (and making social indignity impossible). I understand it's as difficult to find decent morals as it is painfully difficult to invent them, if mum doesn't approve I would lose my reputation with this behavioural invention, likewise, the point is Ayn's selfish philosophy is true in a way, that selfishness is necessary, that humans can't live selflessly and that there are no good selfless deeds, however, it doesn't annoy so much if selfishness wasn't a normal selfishness, normal selfishness or self-interest is annoying, however self-business or self-affairs is a softer way to go about it, therefore I invented a selfishness not by self-interest or inconsideration, but by self-business. Try it, you know normal selfishness doesn't work, try drawing attention more on your own business and not that of others' business. I happily but sadly dismiss most philosophies as: non-idealistic, spoiling that nice life with crap nobody cares about, starting good and great then it stops in the middle, in the middle it immediately stops being likeable.
I have a select few that do none of that crap: metaphysical solipsism, atomism, Platonism, aestheticism, fiscal conservatism, and liberalism. These philosophies, especially solipsism, are magical, beautiful, very pleasing, pleasurable, fun, and are guaranteed for me to enjoy everything about them. And I don't think an 'objective' philosophy, or one of optimism as with Ayn Rand, or her shit about normal people is the answer, in fact the way she talks about normal is is a piece of shit and nobody cares, NOBODY CARES, crap like this pisses people off and disgusts normal people (it also disgusts me), and the only reason I could possibly disgust a normal person is that there's something fishy about making people unique when nobody cares about weirdos like Ayn Rand. No offence! I escaped reality not long ago because people are a piece of fucking shit!
