My name is Nimit Rathod from OHM Systems, Inc. We are a staffing company.

We have following direct client position from IBM.

 

Position: Sybase DBA

Location: Reston, VA

Duration: Long term

 

Responsibilities/Activities/Scope:

·         The Sybase Database (DBA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, security, operation, and maintenance for selected database management systems such as Oracle, and Sybase.

·         Installation, configuration and upgrading of Sybase server software and related products.

·         Administers Sybase databases running in a UNIX (Linux) environment.

·         Installs, configures and upgrades Sybase server software and related products in a UNIX environment.

·         Provides performance tuning and troubleshooting in support of software applications and reporting.

·         Creates and implements Sybase backup

·         Designs, tests and implements Sybase high availability solutions.

·         Controls user access to databases and maintain database security.

 

Skills Required (Primary)

·         Sybase/DBA

 

Skills Required (Secondary)

·         Five or more years' experience in Sybase installations, and administration.

·         Strong experience with UNIX and/or Linux and shell scripting.

·         Working knowledge of Sybase High Availability solutions.

·         Strong knowledge of Sybase backup methods.

·         Good understanding of the Sybase database, related utilities and tools.

·         Proven ability to set and meet deadlines · Team player · Certified as a Sybase DBA.
