Position - Java Developer

Location - Washington DC

Duration - 6+ Months

Need US citizen

 

Coordinates complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software. Oversees activities from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment. Performs in accordance with established project standards and processes. Establishes project standards and processes. Breaks down software requirements and creates highly complex systems. Leads mid and senior level engineers on complex tasks. Understands client needs and routinely interacts with internal and external customers. Acts as a mentor to junior software engineers. This is a position for an experienced Java Developer. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

• Identifies, analyzes, defines, and coordinates user, customer, and stakeholder needs and translates them into technical requirements. Manages technical resources (hardware, software, licenses, and services). Plans and leads transformation initiatives to new software architectures.
• Identifies gaps in requirements and solves problems.
• Identifies sequencing of services and technologies that are integrated in later phases of the project.
• Oversees application development; monitors and reports progress. Maintains legacy applications. Ensures project architecture fundamentals are maintained.
• Collaborates with DBAs, SAs, and BAs to design solutions.
• Develops design artifacts, allocates work to developers.
• Coordinates the installation and maintenance of software products and performs software maintenance.
• Develops ways to improve performance and increase system availability. Provides recommendations to infuse new technology.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for specified systems and their subsequent applications.
• Ensures compliance with contract and corporate requirements including quality measures and quality assurance standards

Provides software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.
Uses sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, and fault tolerant.
Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and software development.
Analyzes and interprets complex system requirements.
Provides expertise, in a leadership capacity, in software development and engineering.
Maintains legacy applications.
Codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains application code. Oversees application development; monitors and reports progress.

General Comments

Highly Preferred: Java, Hibernate, Spring, SQL, JavaScript/JSP 

Nice to haves: Struts, Stripes, Eclipse, JBoss, JQuery, Git (or source control experience), Agile experience.

Usual caveats; US citizen, low risk CBI, must clear USTP security for Public Trust
