Network Engineer is responsible for providing day to day support for network operations and maintaining network performance. The Network Engineer will troubleshoot both logical and physical layer network problems. In addition, this person will build network switch and router configurations that adhere to company Systems standards and guidelines. The Network Engineer will evaluate networks and leads/participates in site surveys, workshops and customer reviews. Leads small and medium size project initiatives and provides technical expertise to network staffs. Develops diagrams of networks using standard templates to illustrate solutions to customers and technical staff. Identifies customers' requirements and designs moderately complex network systems. Researches and evaluates network technologies for fault, asset, configuration, and performance management. Resolves network problems in a timely manner and provide any architectural change recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a US Citizen or Green Card
The candidate for this position should have a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher Cisco certification. Strong candidates with greater than 5 years of experience will be taken into consideration.
The person will install small to medium sized network switches into telecommunication racks and will work with other staff members to implement larger network switches.
This person could work in a variety of engineering or manufacturing environments to support their networking requirements. This person is expected to follow all local safety regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/PROJECT TASKS
· Evaluate customer requirements and provide guidance to management regarding best course of action.
· Assist with the cut overs from existing network to a new network installation.
· Provide guidance for ports and location of all network devices
· Effectively communicate with customers and technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve networking problems.
· Manage the installation and upgrade of network hardware.
· Follow process and template documentation to configure and install networking hardware.
· Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
PROGRESS AND COMPLIANCE
· Contractor must complete and submit a weekly timesheet for approval by the direct manager.
· Contractor is required to update the local network project portal web page with the status of their assigned projects and work tasks
· Attend team and project meetings
· Identify reports, inspections and/or test procedures to be completed. Provide information on quality specifications and compliance regulations.
· Adhere to the network tower process and standards documentation
