Position: Senior MS Business Intelligence (BI) Architect

Location: Boston, MA

Duration: 6-8++ months = very long term

locals only

 

Job Responsibilities

·         Work directly with clients to map business needs to data warehousing and business intelligence solutions centered on Microsoft technologies

·         Assess existing data warehousing and business intelligence solutions and recommend approaches for modernization.  Document and present solutions to data architects and CTOs

·         Define data architectures for OLAP systems and large scale enterprise DW solutions

·         Analyze performance bottlenecks and recommend tuning optimizations

·         Rapidly prototype and prove solutions using relational and OLAP databases

·         Work collaboratively with a team of senior software architects and developers to implement the solutions

 

Desired Skills and Experience

 

·         Full lifecycle experience surrounding large scale data warehousing and business intelligence solutions

·         Up to date on SQL skills:

o    SQL 2008 R2 at a minimum, SSAS a must

o    Exposure to SQL 2012 a plus

o    Experience with large scale DW solutions (SQL PDW, Teradata, Netezza) a plus

o    Experimentation with NoSQL technologies and Hadoop Azure is a major plus

·         Several years hands-on SQL Server development experience including:

o    DW schema design, implementation and optimization

o    ETL framework design, implementation and management

o    UDM & OLAP design and implementation

o    Physical implementation, optimization, backup, DR strategies

o    TSQL, MDX, DAX

o    Advanced SQL Server features such as "always-on" technologies, scalability, audit and compliance

o    Design, develop and deploy SSIS packages

o    Design, develop and deploy SSRS and PowerPivot solutions

o    SharePoint and .Net development experience is a plus

o     

·         Demonstrated strong knowledge and proficiency in the following methodologies and concepts:

 

o    Large Scale DW/"Big Data"

o    Dashboards and scorecards

o    Dimensional/ Star Schema design

o    ETL frameworks

o    Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality Services (DQS) is a plus

Bottomline, They need a Microsoft BI Developer with the Microsoft ETL tools as well.  Big Data stuff is only a plus, such as NOSql, Cassandra, and others.
