Title: Senior SQL Developer

Duration: 24 + Months

Location: Portland, OR

Job Description:

·         Installation, administration and maintenance of SQL Server instances including Test, Dev, Staging and Production environments.

·         Create users and assign permissions based on the level of database access the user would need

·         Analyze technical requirements and design new data models or update existing data models

·         Analyze technical requirements and recommend ETL strategies and provide visual representation of designs

·         Ability to import data into SQL databases from multiple source types

·         Identify and write best possible code in case of new deployments or when rewriting code when migrating to newer version of SQL Server

·         Create database objects such as tables, views, stored procedures, triggers of high complexity to meet product requirements.

·         Create functions to provide custom functionality and enhanced performance as per the requirements.

·         Maintain referential integrity, domain integrity and column integrity by using the available options such as constraints etc.

·         Identify columns for Primary Keys in all the tables at the design time and create them.

·         Endure that the code is written keeping in mind any security issues and PHI

·         Develop reports in SQL Server Reporting Services.

·         Design, Develop and Deploy SSIS Packages.

·         Participate in discussions involving the application creation and understand the requirements and provide the back-end functionality for the applications.

·         Create linked servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle, Access, Informix in order to support reporting requirements

·         Design database backup and restoration strategy and once created, monitor those backups are being performed regularly. From time to time recover the databases to a specific point of time, as per the requests.

·         Collaborate with NW Perm IT team with regards to any server requirements for the support of the databases,  including VM sizing, failover, clustering, RAID, etc

·         Conduct Index and Performance Analysis  to ensure products provide optimal performance

·         Deliver work products that meets specifications, are defect free, and have optimal performance

·         Build design consensus amongst different teams working on software development projects

·         Facilitate discussions among systems team to exchange ideas and introduce new database technologies

·         Evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be leveraged to strengthen KPNW technology platform and development practices.

·         Monitor SQL Server Error Logs to troubleshoot various problems that arise in a day-to-day work and fix the issues.

·         Monitoring and Performance Tuning; Physical Server Level, Database level (Database settings and options) and query tuning. settings, monitoring CPU usage and Disk I/O activity etc)

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.

·         9+ years of related experience.

·         Certified DBA or equivalent knowledge and experience.

·         Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 and 2012 features including indexing, synonyms, service broker, Change Data Capture, Change Data Tracking, CLR integration, partitioning, replication, and compression.

·         Experience with ETL tools

·         Experienced with multiple source data formats for import into the database

·         Experienced in XML development

·         SQL Server Relational Database Management System

·         Demonstrated knowledge of database design

·         Experienced in SQL SSIS, SSRS and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)

·         SQL Development code writing efficiency

·         Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects and priorities

·         Demonstrate excellent teamwork abilities

·         Ability to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas within and across teams.

·         Ability to work well with other developers and management.

 

Certifications:

•          Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Certification
