This is a contract that may end up contract to hire.

Position : Hadoop Administrator
Location : Redwood Shores, CA

Duration : 6 months

Responsibilities:

General Linux system administration: configuration, installs, automation, monitoring, etc.
Automate operation, installation and monitoring of Hadoop ecosystem components in our open source infrastructure stack; specifically: HDFS, Map/Reduce, Yarn, HBase.
Work with the team in providing hardware architectural guidance, planning and estimating cluster capacity, and creating roadmaps for Hadoop cluster deployment
Continuous evaluation of Hadoop infrastructure requirements and design/deploy olutions (high availability, big data clusters, etc)
Troubleshoot and debug Hadoop ecosystem run-time issues.
Recovering from node failures and troubleshooting common Hadoop cluster issues
Document all production scenarios, issues and resolutions.
Participate in a periodic on-call rotation.

Skills and Experience:

2-3 years of engineering operations experience, including 1-2 years of Hadoop experience.
Strong Linux administration experience
Expertise in building and tuning Hadoop clusters.
Very Good understanding of HDFS, MapReduce and YARN concepts.
Familiarity in maintaining HBase clusters.
Good experience with Puppet
Proficiency in scripting languages (bash or python)
Strong knowledge of open source monitoring tools such as Nagios, Ganglia, OpenTSDB.
Team player with good communication skills and ability to perform under pressure
