SOFTWARE ENGINEER / DEVELOPER

 

Location: Roseville, CA

Contract : 3 months +

Pay rate : 35-38/hr max

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Software Engineer / Developer, working within a regional or global development team, is responsible for developing (producing quality code) and supporting / maintaining Business Systems (Applications).The responsibilities extend to guiding and mentoring others within the team, and ensuring their output meets the necessary standards.

•     Work within a development team to produce application code, meeting the specification provided. Assist other members of the team, in meeting their objectives.

•     Assist Business Analysts or Operations Teams in developing Functional Specifications, and in defining enhancements for applications.   Investigate and apply fixes to rectify system bugs.

•     Perform unit testing on code developed; participate in Code reviews, and undertake testing of code developed by others.

•     Develop applications using the tools specified, to optimally run on the databases prescribed.

•     E.g. C#.NET, on Oracle or MS QSL.

•     Follow Development and Coding standards and guidelines.

•     Provide direct end user support and system training, as required.

•     Adhere to IT processes, including issue tracking, and report time spent as requested.

•     May need to be available 'out of hours' to support operations and/or specific customer demands.

•     Ensure code is managed within the central repository, and correctly versioned. (e.g. SVN).

•     Assist PM and Sales Consultants, in developing cost (time estimates) for bids and project plans.

•     Review, and feedback, on functional and detailed specifications. Commit to schedule as appropriate.

 

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in the following programs is required:

•     Visual Studio 2010

•     C#.Net

•     PL/SQL

•     ASP.Net

•     SVN

•     REST WebServices

•     SCRUM is also good to have

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

•     A minimum of 3+ years in developing applications in MS C# (Visual Studio), with similar MS SQL or Oracle database experience.

•     Or equivalent, relevant development experience.

•     BS in Computer Science or equivalent education and/or experience.

•     Appropriate external certification is a plus!

•     Competent written and spoken English.
