Job Description:This is our direct-client opening for an IT Support Technician located in Irvine, CA. This is a full-time position is DOE. Our client will only consider local candidates or candidates who can relocate at his/her own expense, and only US Citizens, Green Card Holders, and TN Visa Holders can apply since our client cannot transfer or sponsor new visas for this position. 
 
The IT Support Technician's role is to support and maintain in-house and regional office technology equipment and IT assets to fulfill the firm's business objectives. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading as needed all corporate hardware and software while ensuring its optimal performance. This person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, including extensive interfacing with manufacturer technical support personnel as a means towards problem resolution.  Provide extensive software application end user training and assistance where required on firm supported technology.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future hardware and software business technology needs. 
Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Create and deploy feedback mechanisms for end users. Analyze results, make recommendations for support process improvement, and implement changes.
Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent repeated future problems.
Conduct research into software application products and services in support of development and purchasing efforts.
Provide support for the testing of new and existing software applications under development or consideration for purchase.
Identify and deliver required hardware and software services in a timely fashion.
Liaise with, and provide training and support to, end users on equipment and software operation and other issues.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, and other products.
Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user software and networking software products.
Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex hardware and software problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
Document instances of hardware/software failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Recommend, schedule, and perform hardware/software and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
Field returned incoming calls and problem tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, firmware, hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
Maintain, update, and enhance performance of all new and existing software and applications across the organization.
Coordinate with department management to assess departmental application training needs and objectives.
Participate in the design and development of software application training programs.
Post software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on company intranet to assist in problem resolution.
Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, anti-virus software, and similar products.
 
Position Requirements:
 
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information technology, and/or 5 years equivalent work experience in a professional services IT environment.
Microsoft certifications such as MCSE or equivalent, or 5 years direct working experience in a professional services IT environment.
Excellent technical knowledge of corporate networking, and other hardware, including Dell servers, desktops, laptops, Juniper/Cisco routers and switches, HP printers, iPhone/iPad/Android/Blackberry PDAs.
Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
Comprehensive advanced hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
Extensive equipment support experience with Dell, Juniper/Cisco, HP, Blackberry/iPhone/iPad/Android.
Advanced technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of current network topologies, protocols, operating systems, software, and standards, including TCP-IP, Windows XP/Vista/Windows-7, Autonomy, RIM, Android, IOS, Aderant, Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010, Office 2007/2010, Windows Server 2008, VMware.
Ability to conduct research into hardware and software products and issues as required.
On-call availability as needed.
Occasional travel between regional offices.
Previous law firm experience is a huge bonus
