Job Description:

 

Seeking a dynamic Software Engineer to assist in the development of Java as well as Oracle database (complex SQL development) applications and reporting for a wide variety of applications.  Solid hands-on development experience with front end Java/JEE and back end complex SQL with PL/SQL applications.

• Provides new software development and maintenance support for projects working with the Business Unit and the Operations Support department
• Responsible for supporting implementation of moderate-scope projects or major initiatives.
• Perform hands on requirements gathering
• Participate in design and development sessions
• High volume data processing using complex SQL (or PL/SQL) and knowledge of Performance Tuning
• Document designs, development plans, and provide status reporting on individual work assignments
• Work with teammates/peers in remote onshore locations
• Software integration for a wide variety of applications is preferred
• Design and develop supporting application modules that are used to provide integration on an Oracle benefits product.
• Develop effective test cases for services and integrated tools
• Provide production support for application modules in a world-wide investment environment
• Build and maintain project data models using CASE technology, maintain database dictionary or metadata catalog, standards and procedures. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is required
• 6+ years of hands on development of Java/JEE experience is required
• 3-5+ years of SQL development experience with Oracle DB versions 10/11g
• Extensive complex SQL development - stored procedures, triggers, performance tuning and functions (PL/SQL experience is desired)
• Proficient front-end UI development experience on AJAX, JSPs, and JavaScript/CSS/HTML
• Exposing/Consuming Web Services (JAX-WS / SOAP / WSDL / RESTful) is highly preferred
• 3+ years' experience using Struts/a homegrown MVC and / or Spring Framework (Preferred - MVC, AOP and IOC) is highly desired
• Waterfall development methodology is required (Agile is a plus)
• iBatis / Hibernate (ORM) experience is a plus.
• Strong experience with Relational Databases (Oracle required, but any other RDBMS experience are a plus)
• One of the following Application Server experience is required: WebSphere / WebLogic / Jboss / Apache Tomcat (preferred)
• Operating Systems and Environments – UNIX (AIX) / Shell Scripting & Linux is a plus
• 2-4 years of progressive experience with data management and integration of systems
• Must show strong communication skills, assertiveness, creative problem solving skills, and comfortable being vocal
• Must demonstrate ability to communicate at a business function level with IS personnel, Customers and Management.
• Working knowledge of a source control repository as well as MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
