Minimum Qualifications/ Required Skills
· BA/BS in Computer Science
· A minimum of 10 years of technology delivery project experience
· 7 years of performance engineering experience
· Demonstrated experience in the practice of managing, modeling, analyzing, and tuning the performance characteristics of a system, from system design and requirements through deployment and maintenance
· Advanced understanding of distributed multi-tier business critical applications, how they work, and how they often break due to poor performance.
· Demonstrated experience in the practice of probing the runtime properties of an application or system to reveal performance characteristics and potential bottlenecks. This competency should also include expertise in problem detection and repair of performance issues
· Extensive experience in performance monitoring and analysis using tools such as Nmon, Perfmon, BMC Patrol/Perceiver, HP Diagnostics, Oracle AWR/Statspack, Wily Introscope, OEM Java Diagnostic Pack or similar tools is a required.
· Must be have strong analytical skills to analyze disparate performance monitoring data from various sources and come up with comprehensive end-to-end analysis
· Must have demonstrated strong ability to identify and solve performance problems
· Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications/ Skills
· Some experience in capacity planning and/or sizing would be a plus.
· Some experience with performance testing using LoadRunner is desirable but not required.
Responsibilities
As a Performance Engineering contractor in the Performance Engineering & Testing department, you will work with one or more performance engineers and performance test analysts to:
· Collect and analyze performance monitoring data in test and production to provide end-to-end performance analysis from production or performance testing
· Lead in identifying and defining detailed performance critical use cases, number of concurrent users and transaction rates as part of Workload Characterization.
· Lead or work with other performance engineers in compiling OS, DB, Storage, and Network monitoring data
· Utilize diagnostic tools to investigate performance issues, determine root cause and provide tuning and improvement suggestions
· Participate in architecture and design reviews to ensure that development or test effort follows performance engineering standards and best practices.
· Analyze and model system technical transaction flows from business processes and use them for the purpose of predicting system performance
· Perform capacity sizing to determine if additional resources may be needed
· Monitors production metrics and integrates into performance engineering work products.
· Support development, completion and review of key performance engineering processes, deliverables and work products.
