| The NYPR System Administrator will be responsible for the configuration, implementation and maintenance of Linux-based systems and applications for our Web and Business infrastructure running Ubuntu Linux and VMware ESX and providing the necessary support for these environments. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES(specify "required" or "preferred")
· Solid understanding of TCP/IP, UDP and RTP networking and internet protocols · Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal · Strong troubleshooting skills · Working knowledge of Windows Server OS preferred · Excellent knowledge of current trends in web system administration with a keen eye toward best practices · Managerial experience preferred · Experience with the Linux Ubuntu, Apache, and Cloudkick · Experience maintaining audio streaming including understanding for various formats, encoders, methods of distribution, hosts, and players.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES ((specify "required" or "preferred")
· BS Computer Science or equivalent experience, required · 5+ years experience with Ubuntu Linux system administration; · Experience working with hosting providers required; VMware experience, required · Experience with our application stack: Python, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Apache, Nginx, preferred · Experience leading the support of On-Demand and live audio streaming, required · Experience in working closely with in house development teams, required |
