Location: Sacramento, CA
Duration: 12 months contract
Manager's Note:
Candidates for this position are required to take a Web Developer test.
Candidates for this position will be tested on their JQuery, JavaScript and AJAX skills.
Please do not send us candidates that have used AJAX plugins in WordPress.
This position requires a skilled UI/UX developer who can actually code in these languages.
We use a lot of JQuery so this is a must.
Job Description:
General Summary
With general direction, maintain and implement technical web solutions.
Code and develop Global websites and applications based on design research and mockups.
Essential Functions
• Responsible for on-going development and maintenance of assigned VSP Global Web sites or applications.
Responsible for developing front-end cutting-edge, fast-loading and standards compliant web layouts comprised of graphics, HTML, CSS and JavaScript/jQuery
• Responsible for the development of the site concept, interface design, the Technical architecture of the website; this includes the creation of wireframes showing in-page interactions, such as dynamic menus and expandable areas of content for discussion with market managers and business partners.
• Build prototypes that use UX design patterns that are based on approved requirements and wireframes which include 'production ready' cross-browser tested, standards based HTML/CSS
Ensure design meets the needs of the end user while still in line with brand guidelines.
• Research and apply newest technology and determine when use is appropriate for a particular online web development project.
• Ensure websites and applications are 508 compliant, including those outsourced to vendors.
• Conduct testing using in house standards, including code from vendors.
Serve as the publisher of a web site or page, accountable for accurate content and language.
• Gather information for needs assessments, and support the development of the business objectives and timelines for online web projects.
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Information Systems or equivalent experience
• Minimum of five years' experience with web front end technologies and cross –browser compatibilities with HTML, XHTML,CSS2,CSS3, JavaScript, Ajax, Jquery, Flash, Flex, DOM Manipulation, Accessible web development techniques (W3C WAI, Section 508)
• Familiarity with the following languages, technologies, tools and development environments: XML, SQL and relational data management, Java, C#, or other comparable object-oriented languages, JSP/ASP/ASP.net and Web Services and J2EE environments.
• Proven experience in common web frontend UI and image optimization techniques with creative design tools: Photoshop/Fireworks, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Eclipse.
• Proven attention to detail, quality management and strong analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal, written, and web communication skills
