RE: Since We Care So Much About Our Children, How About If We Don't Bankrupt ...

No Lynne, I’m not claiming doomsday is at hand but I do know that on 1 January 2013 we’ll be much worse off than we are today and that many will not be able to handle it or survive.  You know, it wasn’t just those who had piss poor mortgages on homes that were way beyond their ability to qualify for who found themselves suddenly homeless during the major bust of the housing bubble but many who did qualify for their mortgages who lost out to increasing costs of living, layoffs, plant and store closings and found that they not only could not pay their mortgages but that all of a sudden their home value was lower than what they owed BEFORE they ended up on the streets.  I can’t understand the glee that you and other progressives seem to have at the changes which you virtually voted for when you voted for Obama.  It’s either perverse glee at the hardships which will face not just your hated “rich” but everyone.  Even given a last minute deal later tonight (which is definitely not going to happen since the house has already declared that they will NOT vote tonight on any bill produced in the real do nothing chamber of Congress, the Senate,  the onus of other increased tax rates, some a part of the ACA, will still start tomorrow.  What is it exactly that makes you believe that only the Rich will bear a burden.  Those working class individuals whom I know and those who happen to be my children KNOW without a doubt what tomorrow is bringing and some of that Hell already started shortly after Obama’s reelection. I have two children who are concerned that THEIR homes may end up sacrificed on the pillar of Progressive social and economic equality (of outcome, of course, not opportunity) and redistribution of assets from those who produce to those who do not.

By the way, my higher HQ at my last assignment was located in Nashville and I was a frequent traveler there.  I also understand the military and very few active duty military will live 30-45 miles away from their unit so I have to question how it is that you and Nashville have such a close association with soldiers from units at Campbell. Now, if you said Hopkinsville or Clarksville I might understand that.  When I was stationed at Ft Knox, I was one of the furthest out and lived in Elizabethtown, a mere 15 minutes south of Knox and Radcliffe, KY.  A very few lived as far away as Louisville.

I don't clainm to know more than you do. But I think you're going off the deep end here, claiming that ther end of the word is at hand and the entire military feels that way too. I know better. The base is an impoirtant part of Nashville. Weh onor them. We see them daily at schools (as parents). We have family members. Liukje I said - maybe everyone is scared shitless at Leaonard Wood, but the 101st stands ready for peace. And you make many man assumptions about me, most of which are not true. L

Lynne, of course I don’t know everyone in the military but I certainly do have to question how someone living 30 or more miles from Ft Campbell and with no real ties to the military can claim to know more military folks than I do and especially to be trusted as a civilian with things that are shared only with known and proven folks in the craft.  I still have a few buddies stationed at Campbell including two rotor heads with 160. I’ve only been out just over 4 years.

It’s like I said, they can claim that it’s the fault of the GOP all they want.  Most of us know the truth and that the Senate Dems and Obama have been playing with themselves for the last four years and are fully responsible for the cliff diving and worst for the sequestration which starts tonight when the ball goes down in Times Square.  That particular Genie cannot be put back in the bottle quickly nor easily.  At 0001 hours, 1 January 2013, I would rate US combat readiness at C-4.  (Unit Status Reports rate units from C-1 to C-5, C-4 is the last one from which a unit can be eventually resurrected as a functional combat asset WITH MASSIVE infusions of personnel, equipment, and training, C-5 is generally reserved for units which are slated to “lose their flag”.

You have to be kidding...This is like way too much Fox TV and away from the facts. The fact is that Boehner can't control his caucus. They went home over Christmas.  Tax increases do not portent the end of the world. This is not a meteor impact. The Congress is merely demonstrating its own incompetence. If you want things to get better, quit votoing in the Tea Party ignoramuses who signed Norequist's ridiculous pledge and took it seriously. They are the ones holding the Congress hostage...not the democats. Even Harry stepped aside and called for Joe Biden to come and help him. More than Boehner did, for sure.

My paranoia is shared by most in the military community. The impact will also be seen in new recruitment as the new taxes and other reductions WILL make the military among the least competitive job markets and the story about how all the above will impact on military families is already getting out.  It seems that Obama and his horde of raving progressives will not be happy with just the destruction of America but are intent on a scorched earth policy as well.

Maybe at Leonard Wood. Definitely not at Ft. Campbell. We are all waiting to see what happens. You don't know everyone in the miltary, so why make idiotic and sweep8ing comments insinuating that you speak for the entired armed forces? That's just dumb and we all know better.   Grow up. Your guy lost. Our guy won. Obama has a mandate. Get over it. L

Backwards. Normally the executive brings his budget to the speaker who forwards it to appropriations. At the same time cbo prepares their version and sends it to appropriations. Then appropriations and ways and means finds other funding.  Notice that the president is busy with foreign affairs. The Congress has abdicated. Boehner has revealed his total incompetence. He can't even keep his caucas in town.

The House has submitted 4 budgets to the Senate in the last 4 years, Reid refuses to allow a vote. Obamba has sent three straight budgets to the Senate that Reid and the Dems have voted down 99-1 or 100-0. Only the Senate side of Congress has abdicated.
