You mean that Mormonism is infectious and fatal??? I don’t know what the experience of your family member entailed but surely you aren’t bigoted and closed minded enough to believe that he is the definitive example of the typical Mormon? I’ve served with too many of them in the service and had too many of them as friends to accept that kind of condemnation. Matter of fact I ran with a pack of them who had all commissioned out of Salt Lake City as Classmates at my Branch Officer Basic Course at Ft Sam in 1982 and they were fantastic. They’d go to certain bars with us (Chevy’s was my favorite) not drink a drop of alcohol or soda and have as much and be as much fun as we others. One of them and I were a part of our land navigation course at Camp Bullis with two Dentists from NYC and our group of four were the last ones dropped off to start finding our points and get back to our pick-up point. We also had the greatest distance to travel (which is why we were the last dropped off). The two NYC boys were literally lost in the woods so the two of us started doing the things we knew like picking points of the terrain to guide us without worrying so much about going 200 paces on this azimuth and 500 hundred on that azimuth by orienting our map to the terrain and adding a little leftward swag to our course as we knew that the tendency is to veer right for mostly right handed individuals and ended up being the second team in with all of our points picked up. They’re taught these very basic survival skills as kids as well as many other useful skills such as budgeting, planning etc. They’re damned good people and I’m proud to be married to one, father of three of them out of my brood of six and friends with many of them.
Yes she is at Buena Vista, She graduated from Southern Virginia University in May 2011 and her husband is in his third year there. He’s probably the reason that she became more Liberal and a Democrat since he’s a self proclaimed Progressive and served on Jack Carter’s 2006 Senate race in Nevada (he’s from Vegas). Unfortunately even my grandson has been touched by the virus of Liberalism as Harry Reid held him and kissed him at a breakfast that Sara and Cody attended with Reid. Yeah she’s friends with the high rollers of the sociali….sorry Democratic Party. Strange, she was the girl who at 13 got the handshake, hug, and kiss on the cheek from Bush in a 2000 event here in ST Charles County and who wrote to Bob Dole to tell him that she loved his humor and that she never thought of him as too old for the Presidency in 96 and received a nice four page hand written letter from him and 6 autographed copies of one of his books (for herself and 5 of her friends of which I was one of the proud recipients). Though we disagree politically and ideologically we have some heated although civil debates and at one point considered going into business together in the political realm until my head was turned back to foreign policy. Even with her immersion in the river of political sludge as she is and the flavor of that sludge being decidedly flavored with left-handed sugar molecules (I’d say the same if she were a GOP operative) she maintains some elements of her former right sided (and minded) self on certain issues (Defense) and has self deprogrammed on some of the leftist mal-considered agenda items.

Most of what you say are either things that were prevalent in the early days of the church or are practices of those who’ve been excommunicated and even my own form of Protestant behavior and the Catholic behavior before the reformation was peculiar to the max. Remember the inquisitions which were really a political genocide of those who endangered the ruling cabal of kings and Popes? How about the witch trials of my protestant forebears? I don’t care what book you’ve read about it, you know one author’s opinion only. There are many more than that one author on that side and strangely they’re usually former members of the LDS who like many supposed former GIs who never quite got it became embittered and radically anti military, so too do many of these folks. Another myth is that all Mormons are Conservative and Republican. Having a daughter with a BA in Political Science from an LDS school in Virginia who is a paid politico operative in charge of the reelection campaign for Obama and the Senate campaign of Keane in the Shenandoah region of Virginia and that she has a wide range of other young Mormons who share her liberal views in her circle of acquaintances. You’re smarter than this, Lynne.
