Bless you jgg, for once I can say that I agree with you! Whoa, get off the floor, or, call an EMT, better yet, pour yourself an Irish Coffee.

It is true that the past shows some fairly kinky behavior in the Mormon culture. But that behavior was to save their culture, so many of their men had been killed. That being said, even today their are some sects of the culture that practice plural marriage, illegally. The FLDS are the most famous example. They are a small and shrinking part of the mainstream community. The LDS faith shares the values of so many evangelical Christians, it is staggering.

I am of the mind that there is solidarity in purpose among folks of faith, more so than differences. Mormons are all about family, it is the corner-stone and bedrock of their faith. The Church in its predominantly rural setting provides a great many things; recreation, education, social interaction, as well as the sense of community that they are famous for.

To say that they are not Christian is doing a disservice to yourself and the broader Christian Community. You must understand, I am centered in another, more mainstream denomination, Methodist. I still view Mormonism, and my LDS family and friends in a positive way, and work with them in many community outreach efforts.
