Locations: Quincy, MA

Duration: 6 months

Description:

 

Education/Background/Experience

• Minimum 5 years Informatica ETL development experience.
• Minimum 3 years of SQL/PLSQL
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Oracle 10g and above
• 1-2 years of hands on experience with Informatica IDE and IDQ
• 1-2 years of  exposure to MDM
• 2-3 years of hands on experience with data analysis, data modeling and table design
• Experience in the healthcare insurance industry preferred
• Excellent analytical, problem resolution, and risk management skills. Strong attention to detail, process, deadlines and quality results
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required.

 

Position Summary:

The ETL developer works as part of a team responsible for the development and support of enterprise operational data.   They will primarily be responsible for ETL processes and tools, database loading and manipulation and ensuring that the data needs for the project are met.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Essential Functions:

• Develops ETL scripts for data loads into the Operational Data Store (ODS) and Master Data Management tool
• Owns working with support personnel to resolve ETL issues in production. 
• Works with analysts to identify and devise plans to enhance data quality
• Proactively manages his/her tasks, identifies potential crises, and devises contingency plans
• Creates supporting project and operations documentation to follow the BCBSMA SDLC. 
• Responsible for ETL code deployments through all environments
• Develops Shell and Perl scripts as needed to aid in data management and manipulation
• Coordinates with vendors and/or internal teams to obtain requested files
• Works with Project Manager to identify and estimate ETL and data management tasks for input into project plans

2. Challenges/Problem Solving:

• Resolves complex problems and issues independently, and makes recommendations to leader.
• Work on concurrent projects with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
• Work with offshore resources to troubleshoot and fix ETL production issues

3. Leadership Responsibilities:

• Builds relationships with stakeholders to achieve results
• Mentor, train and provide work direction to less senior associates.

Qualifications (knowledge/skills/abilities/behaviors):

• Experienced in best practices of ETL development and implementations in a high volume Informatica environment
• Applicant should be knowledgeable and experienced in all types of data modeling, including strong dimensional modeling techniques.
• Experience with data quality tools and knowledgeable in data quality approaches and techniques.
• Experience working with relational databases e.g. Oracle & programming concepts.
• Experience accessing and working with mainframe VSAM COBOL layouts.
