Since 1986 supply has received tax breaks and subsidy payments. Government action is always supply. Supply follows price and moves to the right.
Now the reality is that demand and supply intersect at equilibrium where buyer and seller meet. And there you have it...stagnant economy with the money stuck at the top.
I hope the hell you aren't teaching economics.
