Although Covid-19 has hit the world hard and has also made us lose our loved ones (may their souls rest in eternal peace), it has brought about new ways of doing things that can be cherished. Apart from virtual conferences and virtual meetings, e-bulletins have also found their relevance in the new world order. The IBA African Regional Forum has thus found it imperative to electronically publish the articles in this e-bulletin.
There have been some developments at the IBA leadership worth noting. In particular, the mantle of leadership of the IBA is resting on the African continent for the first time for the organisation in its 74-year history. Our sincere congratulations to our new IBA President Mr Sternford Moyo from Zimbabwe and his whole executive. Mr Moyo succeeded Horacio Bernandes Neto from Brazil. The IBA African Regional Forum also has some leadership changes that have to be recorded. The current Chair is Dr Babatunde Ajibade. My heartfelt congratulations to the new Chair of the IBA African Regional Forum and his entire executive committee. It is my belief that members will offer them full support so that they can steer the IBA to another level.
The articles, brilliantly written, deal with some of the fairly contemporary issues in commercial law in Africa. For instance, there is a discussion of draft e-waste regulation for the telecom sector in Nigeria, resolving of tax disputes via arbitration as well as aircraft financing, to mention a few. No doubt, they provide a marvellous intellectual feast. We are grateful to our authors for their impeccable contributions. We do hope that when a call for papers is made in due course, we will see authors from a good number of jurisdictions in Africa. The success of the newsletter depends on the authors' contributions.

IBA Terms and Conditions for committee articles- Articles for publication should be submitted to the committee's Newsletter Officer for review.
- Articles will be uploaded to the committee's publication page in the first instance.
- Article authors must be members of the committee. Exceptions may be possible where authors are for example regulators, government officials or industry experts and not in private practice.
- The article must be the original work of the author, should not have been previously published, and should not currently be under consideration by another publisher. If it contains material that is someone else's copyright, the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner must be obtained and evidence of this submitted with the article and the material should be clearly identified and acknowledged within the text. The article shall not, to the best of the author's knowledge, contain anything which is libellous, illegal, or infringes anyone's copyright or other rights.
- Copyright shall be assigned to the IBA and the IBA will have the exclusive right to first publication, both to reproduce and/or distribute an article (including the abstract) ourselves throughout the world in electronic, printed or any other medium, and to authorise others (including Reproduction Rights Organisations such as the Copyright Licensing Agency and the Copyright Clearance Center) to do the same. Following first publication, such publishing rights shall be non-exclusive, except that publication elsewhere will require permission from and acknowledgement of the IBA.
