AIX Administrator
Location: Dallas, TX

Client: TCS

Long Term Contract

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Install and upgrades of hardware and software

·         Interact with IT staff and vendors regarding testing or troubleshooting issues.

·         Collaborate with Senior Admin and Networking team to design documents standards and operating procedures

·         Provide input process improvements, and engineering design

·         Provide effective communication at all levels of management, through clarity of expression and the ability to organize thoughts both written and oral

·         Install/configure/performance tune/support AIX on Power platforms, Virtual IO Servers, HMC (Hardware Maintenance Console)

·         Configure large number of LPARs, Micro partioining

·         Conduct Technology and Capacity assessments, failover tests

·         Produce and review topas and nmon reports for performance remediation

·         Other duties may be assigned

 

 

Mandatory:

 

·         Experience with the following;

·         AIX 6.1&  7.1 Environment build and management on POWER7 and Power 8

·         LPAR, VIO, PowerHA configuration and performance management

·         Hardware administration and deployment of P770 Plus, X3650 series

·         Familiarity with IBM Storage products XIV, configuration and administration

·         AIX Engineering best practices in large scale environment

·         NIM, software deployment, Smitty FastPaths

·         Configuring HBAs for server storage provisioning using Brocade SAN Fabric

·         Data Center design, build and operations management

·         Backup and Recovery using VTLs, vaulting operations for DR

·         User and group administration including ACLs, sudoers

·         Ability to identify and interpret important logs with alog, errpt

·         Supporting large ERP implementations involving Oracle RAC

·         Deep understanding of NFS, and other RPCs, file sharing, exporting, Shell Scripting

·         Network design for Servers in a multi-tiered environment for load balancing and HA

·         Understanding and ability to debug boot cycle, run levels, truss

·         Server and storage performance monitoring, diagnosis and OS hardening

·         Understanding "on demand" services, inetd, LVM, SAN boot
