Role: SQL Server Developer with VMware experience
Location: Baltimore, MD
Duration: Very Long Term

Key Requirements

SQL 2014 including installing, configuring and upgrading database server

Writing SQL queries

Performance tuning SQL databases

VMWare ESXi v 6 (may consider v5.1) including configuring, implementing and support

Performing full Backups and transaction log Backups
 

Activities include:

 

• Configure, implement, and support Microsoft Windows server 2012 software.
• Install, configure, and manage Microsoft SQL 2014 Standard and/or Enterprise.
• Write custom SQL queries to produce reports or statistics as necessary.
• Configure, implement, and support VMware ESXi v6. This includes configuring and managing data stores/LUNs, deploying and altering virtual machines, managing virtual center activities, and troubleshooting support issues.
• Configure, implement, and support software as related to the SQL servers such as VMware SRM and VMware HeartBeat.
• Configure, implement, and support hardware relating to virtualization. This includes Dell rack mounted servers, Dell Blade servers, and IBM blade servers.
• Formulate conclusions about the state of the virtualization environment using third party virtualization reporting tools such as Veeam, FogLight, and VirtualCenter.
• Facilitate SQL architecture options, such as clustering, to be able to make recommendations to the team and customers
• SQL licensing schema published by Microsoft.
• Failover and disaster recovery of SQL across datacenters or within a datacenter.
• Support the backing up and restoration of data and databases in a virtual environment.
• Develop configuration and procedural documentation and diagrams.
