Clinical Information Systems Specialist (Location: Undetermined) This person is responsible for performing duties that surround EMR development, implementation, and assist with the ongoing management of the CIS electronic medical record activities. Travel to other locations is required on a regular basis. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Healthcare clinical knowledge and experience Knowledge and experience with information systems Knowledge and experience with an electronic medical record project BS degree preferred Good communication skills required SPECIFIC DUTIES: The Health Information Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day duties that surround the development, implementation and monitoring of electronic medical records across CIS and shall work cooperatively with the Health Information Director in all aspects of the EMR project. The Health Information Specialist will work closely with all of the physicians, office team leaders, staff and the Health Information Director to assure timely, accurate and efficient upkeep of electronic medical records. The Health Information Specialist shall perform duties to assist with developing and monitoring the electronic medical records project and must work cooperatively with the other EMR personnel such as the Diagnostic Services Manager, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Information Officer, Medical Records Administrator and the Health Information Director to coordinate EMR efforts by obtaining accurate and secure electronic medical records. This person must also have effective communication skills with the EMR project company gMed. The Health Information Specialist shall communicate and assist in efforts for improved electronic medical record handling and security. The Health Information Specialist shall evaluate and assess future development ideas, and perform training and instructions to the staff and physicians in electronic record processes. This person must be knowledgeable in HIPAA privacy and security regulations and medical records release laws. The Health Information Specialist shall reflect the CIS mission of delivering high quality care in decisions and instructions regarding electronic medical records. The Health Information Specialist must work closely with the Medical Records Administrator and the medical records departments to assist in medical record management. The Health Information Specialist shall follow the policies and procedures set by the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. The Health Information Coordinator shall provide regular efficient communication to the Electronic Medical Record Administration and all involved in the EMR process. OTHER DUTIES The Health Information Coordinator performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of CIS and in concordance with its patient philosophy.
