Job Title               Senior Software Test Engineer (Puppet Exp Mandatory)

Location               Sunnyvale, CA

Duration              6+ Months

 

Primary Skill     

·         Competencies Foundation - Java EE Performance Optimization & Tuning, Foundation - Java Web Technologies

·         Experience (Years) 8-10 

 

Description        Essential Skills

·         This project will involve 150+ servers and more processes that need to be monitored (ex Cassandra, Kafa, Akka, and Zookeeper).

·         Puppet experience is a must.

·         A few years experience and very comfortable deploying multiple types of servers.

·         Experience in deploying systems with no downtimes, rolling deployments, etc... Able to think creatively and work with the engineering team to determine the best approach.

·         Ability to identify all the failure points and design how to handle these in the deployment structure.

·         Experience with any of the technologies is a plus

 

Desirable Skills

·         Monitoring/Alerts: This project will involve 150+ servers and more processes that need to be monitored (ex Cassandra, Kafa, Akka, Zookeeper).

·         Experience with a monitoring tool (e. foglight, sematext, or ganglia or building their own) is a plus.

·         Experience with JMX is a must.

·         Experience building and/or configuring monitoring of large systems (75+ nodes)

·         Logging/Auditing: Developing and setting the guidelines for logging needs of the system.

·         Work with the development/QA/APS team to ensure appropriate logging is being done.

·         Splunk experience is a plus but not necessary.

·         Experience in guiding a logging structure for a large application and determining queries and best approach to gather details that are needed.

·         Comfortable working with GBs of logs being generated a day, and understanding how to find problems, issues, and audit information in them.

·         Definitely Java experience and any experience in the technologies being used is a plus.
