Job Role: QA with fixed income exp
Job Location: Pasadena, CA
Duration: 1+ Year Contract
MUST HAVES:
1. MUST HAVE experience overseeing offshore resources
2. MUST HAVE over 10 years of QA experience
3. MUST HAVE fixed income experience
4. MUST HAVE strong SQL skills
Responsibilities/Duties:
Work closely with business analysts, developers and QA in transforming business requirements and use cases into test cases for functional , regression and integration testing
Create, execute, track and report on functional and integration test cases of assigned applications
Validate business rules; find, report and retest defects; execute end-to-end testing, integration and functional testing as assigned; track test case execution using Quality Center
Develop test strategies and test plans, ensure product quality, provide consulting on quality techniques, and ensure adherence to proper software development procedures
Work on department-wide activities such as process improvement efforts, gather and report on quality metrics, and participate in pre-and post-implementation reviews
Attending weekly status meetings with project management, BAs and Developers
Work closely with QA leads, BAs and developers in identifying QA process improvements and test environment coordination
Coordinate QA efforts with offshore QA team and provide onsite hands on testing in parallel
Provide support for various production releases including smoke test and production validation
Provide testing status to QA lead and manager
Specific Technical Knowledge and Experience Required:
Minimum of 10 years prior experience as a QA Engineer.
Prior QA work experience in the financial industry with fixed income, equities, swaps, futures & options
Excellent analytical skills for reviewing requirements, designing effective test strategies, and identifying defects
Strong problem solving skills
Experience working in a dynamic development environment, gathering and translating business requirements into meaningful test scenarios and cases
Experience using Quality Center 9.2 for development and execution of test cases and for defect tracking
Solid knowledge of QA best practices including: functional, regression, and integration testing
Experience in Unix/Linux environments with Weblogic or JBoss
Strong experience in documenting process flows and scenarios for functional testing
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts
Extensive experience in test planning, test case authoring, estimations, and manual test executions
Extensive SQL experience using Oracle and Sybase, must have good ability to use/write SQL to test and validate reports generated by applications developed in cold fusion, business objects, and crystal reports
Experience in testing reporting application used for external client reporting and internally by the trading desk in a fixed income business environment
Minimum 2 years of experience in managing offshore QA team and providing onsite hands on testing in paralle.
Academic Qualifications (minimum requirements):
A 4-year degree in a quantitative discipline, Business, Computer Science, or Finance or equivalent experience.
