Dear Colleagues, 

Please see below an invitation to Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) Triennial General Assembly and Conference on the Theme "Illicit Financial Flows from Africa: Sealing the leaks, Management and Repatriation of Frozen Assets." We have lined up a stellar cast of keynote speakers and presenters that will contribute to some very engaging discussions. 

We hope at the end of the Conference we will have formulated the "Tunis Declaration against Illicit Financial Flows in Africa" with precise and practical recommendations and action points for African lawyers, national/ regional Bar Associations/ Law Societies, PALU, Member States, AfDB, AU, UN, etc.

Invitation to PALU Triennial General Assembly (TGA) and Conference on the Theme "Illicit Financial Flows from Africa: Sealing the leaks, Management and Repatriation of Frozen Assets." February 21- 24 2013 in Tunis, Tunisia Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends, PALU cordially invites you to its Triennial General Assembly (TGA) and Conference on the Theme"Illicit Financial Flows from Africa: Sealing the leaks, Management and Repatriation of Frozen Assets" to be held on February 21- 24 2013 in Tunis, Tunisia.The TGA and conference will offer:
  • The opportunity to network with the largest gathering of members of the African legal,
  • Two days featuring three sessions and over 30 presentations from respected thought leaders covering a range of topics,
  • The opportunity to meet and develop new business contacts,
  • Elect the new members of the PALU Executive Committee,
  • Social functions and discounted excursions.
We hope that by the end of the TGA African lawyers will have formulated and adopted a Declaration on the issue of Illicit Financial Flows from Africa and formed a Committee of knowledgeable and/ or committed members to continue working on the issue.The Conference will feature many eminent speakers and influential governmental and non-governmental entities including; 
  • H.E. President Thabo Mbeki, Chairperson of the AU-UN High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa (HLP-IFF),
  • Hon. Dr. Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA),
  • Dr. Edward Hoseah, Chairperson, African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AU-ABC),
  • Hon. Ms. Huguette Labelle, Chair of Transparency International.

 All other participants  $  300

Dr. Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, President of the Republic of Tunisia, who will grace and officially open the Conference.
