RE: The anti-hate hate mob grows

Sorry Lynne, I FOUGHT and/or worked hard my entire life to elevate
my status is society. Many of my surviving brothers from Edison High
School, mostly black, did the same damned thing. It's one thing to be able
to connect with assistance and quite another to be a member of an
unprotected or desired portion of society, as even my "black" survivor
brothers were because they weren't "at risk" by having resorted to crime and
animalistic behavior to make their way and to have road blocks erected in
front of you by a guilt ridden and power hungry element of society such as
suburban white liberal "carers". I'll remind you that I am extremely proud
of my black High School brothers for more reasons than one and part of that
is that 67 of them DID NOT survive their "structured and health care
supplied" military experience as they were killed in Vietnam contributing
more names to the Wall in DC than any other High School in America.

I'll also remind you that before I took my Army Reserve Commission
in 1982 and then entered on the Active Duty roles in 1986 that I had already
fought my way out of the ghetto and firmly into a middle class professional
status so it wasn't military structure that benefitted me in any manner
greater than my nursing school education. As for the health care you appear
to resent, my organization provided (Sisters of Mercy - Misericordia
Hospital) was far more generous than Champus and then TRICARE were for my
family although as an Active Duty soldier the Army Health Care System was
fantastic for me personally although actually it was the equivalent to what
the Sisters of Mercy provided me in all ways OTHER than Dental coverage with
which those Army Dentists were quite comprehensive in my treatment. You need
to stop trying to compare TRICARE to what your Teacher's organization or
school system provides you without knowing the failings of the TRICARE
System Vs many civilian plans because I have one son who was almost ruined
for life by TRICARE (and is just now at age 28 beginning to recover from
their failure at age 14) and one daughter who could well be dead by now were
it not for a very special civilian provider who went face to face with the
TRICARE system to save her.

Just a side note: Had I had the kind of contact you seem to assume
that I must have had, I would not have almost given up when my appointment
to West Point was rescinded in 1967 due to a reviewed "excessive refractive
error" and would have attempted to regain the scholarships that I turned
down when I was notified that I had initially gotten the appointed to the
"Point" and would have gone on to either the Citadel or Pennsylvania
Military College (Now Widner University)and would have graduated from one of
those fine institutions in 1971 with a degree and a commission. I was
actually told by a guidance counselor that she was too busy to help me after
I received the notice rescinding my appointment. Ten minutes and the
information that I should contact the Citadel or PMC could have made all the
difference. No problem, it all worked out regardless, but I have no
tolerance for the sob stories promoted by those who look in from the outside
and demand that I give my assets to those THEY choose rather than those I
choose ( who are invariably also poor but not "at risk").

Odd argument Tom. I think you might be too focused on rights and less on
responsibility. Since you benefited from the structure of the military and
its health care for your family. Had you grown up without the free education
and legal system, you must consider what could have happened. Now try to
understand what happened to some of these folks...they just could not
connect with help and support and could not recognize what was being offered
as help.l
