Position: Cognos Administrator

Location : Atlanta, GA

Duration : Long term Contract

 

Note: Need profiles by afternoon with H1B Copy for submission, 

 

Job Description:

·        Provide architecture and support of the Cognos business reporting toolset.

·        Report generation for college business units through data gathering and business alignment.

 

Essential Job Functions:

·        Work with technical teams tensure a high performing and highly available Cognos solution

·        Accountable for system installation, availability, performance, documentation and application development

·        Responsible for the administration of the installations of Cognos enterprise reporting software tools.

·        Consult with business areas on matters relating to system connections, security, user accounts, and creation of data models

·        Monitor and maintain system performance and provide statistical reporting

·        Address issues and resolve problem cases as they arise.

·        Schedule and maintain jobs in Cognos to run reports as needed

·        Share knowledge by effectively documenting work

·        Design project folder structure in Cognos connection based on project requirements

·        Manage security of project folders in the distributed Cognos environment

·        Create and maintain content store backups and perform regular maintenance of the portal.

·        Respond quickly and effectively to production

·        Install, configure and maintain Cognos software

·        Install, upgrade, apply patches and bug fixes

·        Communicate with stake holders, take all necessary steps and create robust, well defined plan

·        In addition to other duties as assigned', the individual(s) in this role may be required the cross-trained for another position and/or responsibility within the college in order to provide both back-up for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year. 

·        While these duties may differ from those typically assigned to this position, they shall not substantially exceed the level and scope of duties for this position

 

Education Requirements:

·        Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or closely related field. A combination of education and

·        Experience working with database administration and database applications may be considered.

 

Experience Requirements (Minimum and Preferred):

·        A minimum of 2 to 4 years in reporting and workforce administration is required

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·        Work with key users and Business Analyst to develop and deliver BI solutions that meet the needs of the business with a goal of delivering the information needed to make critical business decisions

·        Assist users with the publishing of reports, cubes, and dashboards

·        Mentor business users in ad-hoc reporting and provide demos to multiple groups on Cognos connection portal usage and functionality.

·        Advanced level of knowledge to understand the architecture of relational database systems and related management tools.

·        Skills to diagnose and provide solutions for database

·        Interpersonal and communication skills

·        Oracle and Oracle Warehouse

·        SQL

·        Cognos administration;

·        Cognos capacity planning;

·        Cognos performance tuning;

·        Framework management; and

·        Cognos report writing

Request Notes:

·         Business Analyst with minimum of 5 years working as a BA.

·         Experience in implementation of IBM Cognos TM1 for use as a Performance Management solution, including comprehensive Planning, Budgeting and Reporting solutions.

·         Conduct Business and Functional requirement workshops with customer resources in order to define solution requirements

·         Define and document solution requirements

·         Develop Solution design including a TM1 prototype that demonstrates a subset of the overall design

·         Assist in defining technical infrastructure required based on your solution design. This requires you to be well educated on server sizing and configuration, infrastructure stability, solution availability, performance optimization, etc.,

·         Build, configure and deploy the solution

·         Provide quality assurance oversight and management of other consultants/developers on the project configuring and deploying your design
